Non-Stop Special Sale
Actually we don't do special sales - not because we think you don't deserve a good deal but because we want you to be able to come to our site at any time and get a good deal. Think of the whole site as one big non-stop sale! We don't offer free shipping either, but take a look at the SAVE! section of our Shipping page for a suggestion that may take some of the sting out of the shipping cost. Company History (in case you're interested!)
We started MarmitePantry.com partly because we were looking for an Internet business we could do together as a family, and partly because of some bad experiences we had buying Marmite on the Internet for our own use. Originally we only sold Marmite. Our closest local store that stocked Marmite used to be a 45 minute round trip for us so we knew about 'shopping the computer' for Marmite and wanted to make it a good experience for others. As a family we have been enjoying Marmite for three generations now, and we understand the "craving" for Marmite or any of those other "hard to find" items!
You may be curious how our U.S. family originally got “exposed” to this very British food icon. Our family's Mom and Dad both grew up overseas in what was then a British colony in central Africa. They were introduced to Marmite there at a young age and have been loyal "Love it!" members of the family ever since. (The country was Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia, for those interested in the details. And if that struck a personal cord for some of you, we’ll add that our earliest introduction to Marmite was probably on rice cakes for breakfast at Sakeji – a boarding school for MK’s in the Northwest Province. Remember standing in line for seconds?!)
Do We Love Marmite?
When it comes to Marmite, they say that you either love it or you hate it! We sell it, but do we really love it? Actually, we are a typical group. Out of eleven, there are eight of us that love it and three that hate it – well, let’s just say that three of us put something else on our toast! The youngest of our family is on the “love it" side. She thinks it’s wonderful and even got a jar of it in her Christmas stocking one year! If you listen carefully when she says it she actually calls it “More-mite”. We don’t think we have figured out yet if that’s just her view about Marmite or a pronunciation problem!
Annual vacation
Almost every year we have the privilege as a family to go up to the High Sierras of central California for a week or so of vacation. We tent camp at Lake Huntington, cook over an open fire, fish, hike the mountain streams in the area, and enjoy the beauty of what God has made. (Check out the link below if you are interested in some pictures from previous years.) The good news is that we enjoy the rest, the peaceful and majestic surroundings and a break from the "daily grind" - the bad news is that we're away from the shop during that time so you have to wait for your order to ship. We place a clear notice on the Shipping page and the Home page to give advance notice - and we apologize for any inconvenience this is to any of our customers (and trust that you understand!)
